FISCAL NOTE

Senate Bill 83 (Act 2022-180) as enacted would increase the administrative obligations of the Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) to implement and administer the Alabama Airport Economic and Infrastructure Program, which would grant funds to general aviation and commercial services airports for the purpose of funding improvements, paying debt service for improvements and funding efforts to grow and expand commercial aviation service in the State. This act prohibits the total grants awarded under this program from exceeding the amount appropriated to the program and would allow funds to be appropriated from the State General Fund to the Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs for the operation and management of this program through an intergovernmental agreement with ALDOT. This act also prohibits funds earmarked to ALDOT from being used for this program.
