FISCAL NOTE

House Bill 255 (Act 2022-117) as enacted proposes a constitutional amendment which, if ratified, would allow the state, a county, or a municipality to grant federal award funds or any other source of funding designated for broadband infrastructure to any public or private entity for the purpose of providing or expanding broadband infrastructure. Additionally, this act will require any such grant funds to a private entity from a county or municipality to be approved at a public meeting.

In addition, this act will increase the proclamation expenses of the Governor, paid from the State General Fund, by an estimated $100,000 for the fiscal year ending September 30, 2023.
