FISCAL NOTE

Senate Bill 217 as introduced would increase the obligations of the Alabama Department of Public Health's (ADPH) Office of Radiation Control (ORC) by a department-estimated maximum of $62,000 in Fiscal Year 2022, and $205,000 annually thereafter, to license and regulate health care personnel performing medical imaging for diagnostic or therapeutic purposes. These obligations would be offset, wholly or in part, by fees established by ORC, as authorized by this bill, for the issuance of new licenses and renewal licenses and civil penalties for a violation of the act or any rule adopted, all of which shall be deposited into the non-reverting Radiologic Imaging and Radiation Therapy Fund established pursuant to the provisions of this bill.

This bill will further increase ADPH's administrative obligations to support the six member Radiologic Imaging and Radiation Therapy Advisory Committee established pursuant to the provisions of this bill.
