FISCAL NOTE

Senate Bill 287 as introduced proposes a Constitutional Amendment, which if ratified, would require, commencing with the 2024 general election, that associate justices of the Supreme Court and judges of the courts of appeals shall be elected by districts as determined by the Legislature.

This amendment could increase the proclamation expenses of the Governor, paid from the State General Fund, by an estimated $100,000 for the fiscal year ending September 30, 2023.
