FISCAL NOTE

Senate Bill 226 as introduced would increase the obligations of the Department of Human Resources to conduct pre-placement investigations ordered by the court for child custody cases by an estimated $465 per case. Per the Department, for fiscal year 2019, there were 6,700 divorces involving dependent children in Alabama.

As amended and reported by the Committee on Judiciary, DHR would be required to conduct home evaluations instead of pre-placement investigations, at a cost of $465 per evaluation.
