FISCAL NOTE

House Bill 385 as introduced would exempt homeless students from paying certain issuance fees for a driver’s license ($20.50), duplicate license ($15), or the driver’s license examination ($5), which would decrease receipts to the various funds below by the following estimated maximum amounts based on the total number of homeless students enrolled in public schools: 1) State General Fund: $35,964; 2) Highway Safety Fund: $9,720; 3) Probate Judges: $2,916; and 4) Alabama Veterans’ Legacy Trust Fund: $972, for a total of $49,572. The receipts to these funds could further decrease by an undetermined amount dependent upon the number of private school students that seek an exemption from driver’s license fees as provided by this bill.
