FISCAL NOTE

Senate Bill 148 as introduced would increase the financial obligations of the Board of Veterinary Medical Examiners by a maximum of $3,200 per meeting of the board to increase the daily stipend from $200 per day to $600 per day. This would also increase the financial obligations of the Board by an undetermined amount dependent on: (1) the future amount the Board sets for board member compensation; and (2) the increased cost to hire relief veterinarians for the six active veterinarian board members during the quarterly meetings. According to the Board, the cost to provide six relief veterinarians for four days in FY 2019 was $12,000.

In addition, this bill would authorize the Board by administrative rule to: (1) increase their compensation; and (2) increase the compensation paid to relief veterinarians on days when the six active veterinarian board members attend quarterly meetings of the Board.
