FISCAL NOTE

Senate Bill 102 as passed the Senate would increase the administrative and financial obligations of the Alabama Board of Pharmacy to approve and issue permits to qualified pharmacy intern/extern applicants by an estimated minimum of $65,000 annually for additional staff to administer the intern/extern permit program. However, the increased obligations would be offset, in whole or in part, by the following fees imposed on pharmacy interns and externs as determined by the Board: initial and biannual renewal permit fees in an amount not to exceed $100 and; (2) late fees, not to exceed $50 per month until renewed. Based on the current number of pharmacy intern/externs potentially eligible for this program, the permit fees could increase receipts to the Board by an estimated maximum of $121,500 beginning in fiscal year, 2024, and every even-numbered fiscal year thereafter.
