FISCAL NOTE
House Bill 237 as introduced provides that a dependent of an active duty member of the United States Armed Services serving on a military installation can register to attend a public K-12 school within 25 miles of the installation. This bill could increase the obligations of local boards of education by an undetermined amount dependent upon the number of students that choose to attend a school system that they are not otherwise zoned to attend. In addition, the bill provides that student transportation for such students shall be the responsibility of the parent or guardian.
