FISCAL NOTE
Senate Bill 2 as introduced would prohibit the state and any political subdivisions, of the state, including offices, agents, or employees of the state or its political subdivisions, from using public funds or assets to enforce any federal act, law, order, rule, or regulation related to firearms, ammunitions, or firearm accessories and; imposes penalties for violations under certain circumstances. This bill could also decrease state grant funds, by an undetermined amount, to any political subdivision of the state following a final judicial determination that the political subdivision has violated the provisions of this bill and shall continue annually until the political subdivision becomes fully compliant.
In addition this bill could increase receipts to the State General Fund and municipal general funds from fines; increase receipts to the State General Fund, county general funds, municipal general funds, and other funds to which court costs are deposited; and could increase the obligations of the State General Fund, district attorneys, and local jails by an undetermined amount dependent upon the number of persons charged with and convicted of the offenses provided by this bill and the penalties imposed.
