FISCAL NOTE

Senate Bill 360 as introduced would increase the obligations of the Alabama G.I. Dependents Scholarship Program by expanding the program to provide tuition reimbursement to eligible children of veterans attending comprehensive transition and postsecondary (CTP) programs at any of the four Alabama state institutions of higher learning, offering such programs, by an undetermined amount depending on, (1) the number of eligible students that apply to this program; (2) the in-state tuition rate at the institution of higher learning attended; and (3) the amount of time it takes to complete CTP Programs.

As substituted and reported by the Committee on Veterans and Military Affairs provides that the increased obligations to the scholarship program would be dependent on: (1) the Department of Defense Tuition Assistance Cap reimbursement rates; (2) the amount of books and fees, which are capped at $1,000 per semester; and (3) the amount of time reimbursements would be allowed, up to 45 months pursuant to the current provisions of the program.
