FISCAL NOTE
House Bill 460 as amended and reported by the Committee on Agriculture, Conservation and Forestry would (1) remove the four license plate limit on the reduced annual license tax and registration fee, ($250) for farm truck tractors; and (2) provide that the current annual license tax and registration fees for truck and truck-tractors are applicable to forest product trucks weighing over 42,000 pounds gross vehicle weight that transport forest products from point of severance to a sawmill or papermill.
This bill could reduce receipts to the Public Road and Bridge Fund, the several counties, and the several municipalities by an undetermined amount dependent on the number of additional farm truck license plates issued for truck tractors that exceed 42,000 pounds and are owned and used by farmers transporting farm products. For each additional farm license plate issued using the reduced rates under the provisions of this bill, the annual license tax and registration fee would be decreased by a minimum of $335 to a maximum of $640 per license plate, dependent upon the weight of the truck or truck tractor.
