FISCAL NOTE

House Bill 548 as amended and reported by the Committee on State Government provides that the chief legal counsel and assistant legal counsels of the Department of Examiners of Public Accounts shall be appointed by, and serve at the pleasure of, the chief examiner, instead of being appointed as deputy attorneys general. Further, this bill codifies current practice of the department providing that the compensation for these positions shall be set by the chief examiner and paid from department funds.
