FISCAL NOTE

Senate Bill 72 as passed the Senate removes the age requirement and provides further for the accumulation of time served toward the years-of-service for district attorneys meeting certain qualification to be eligible for supernumerary status. This bill would increase the obligations of the several District Attorneys, paid from the State General Fund, by an estimated $128,800 annually for each new supernumerary district attorney qualifying, pursuant to the provisions of this bill, based on the current salaries of supernumerary circuit judges less $500. According to the Office of Prosecution Services, of the current 42 district attorneys, seven would be eligible to become supernumerary district attorneys based on the provisions of this bill.
