FISCAL NOTE

House Bill 76 as passed the House of Representatives creates the Seizure Safe Schools Act, commencing with the 2022-2023 school year, to allow a nurse or trained school employee to administer seizure medication, with consent, to a student with a seizure disorder during school or a school-sponsored activity through an individual health plan. This bill requires local boards of education to provide in-person or online seizure disorder training to all nurses and unlicensed medication assistants which would increase the administrative obligations of the local boards of education by an undetermined amount dependent upon the cost of the training program, which may be provided by a national nonprofit foundation free of charge.

In addition, this bill requires the State Department of Education and the Board of Nursing to adopt rules implementing the provisions of this bill no later than March 1, 2022.
