FISCAL NOTE
House Bill 116 as passed the House of Representatives allows the Secretary of State to conduct a post-election audit of the November 8, 2022 election in three counties, which could increase the obligations of the Secretary of State and the judges of probate and sheriffs of these select counties by an estimated maximum of $30,000 collectively according to the Secretary of State. However, this bill provides that the expenses of these local offices would be reimbursed from federal funds. According to the Secretary of State, the local offices and the Secretary's office would be reimbursed from Help America Vote Act Funds.
As amended and reported by the Committee on Governmental Affairs requires the Secretary of State to report all findings of the pilot audit to the Governor and the Legislature within 30 days of completion.
