FISCAL NOTE

House Bill 532 as introduced would increase the obligations of the State General Fund by an estimated $126,072 for each state death benefit payment made to a beneficiary or dependent of any municipal firefighter that dies as a result of a cancer diagnosis during the ten-year period after the firefighter's last date of employment. In addition, this bill could increase the obligations of each municipality with a fire department, by an undetermined amount, to provide disability coverage to those firefighters diagnosed with cancer within the ten-year period.
