FISCAL NOTE

Senate Bill 117 as passed the Senate revises the criteria regarding who may request an expungement and increases the filing fee for petitions for expungement from $300, currently, to $500 and requires the $200 increase to be distributed as follows: $100 to the State General Fund; $50 to the Education Trust Fund; and $50 to the Fair Trail Tax Fund.

in addition, this bill could increase the administrative obligations of the Administrative Office of Courts and the Alabama State Law Enforcement Agency to adopt procedures relating to expungements to comply with the provisions of this bill.
