FISCAL NOTE

Senate Bill 106 as passed the Senate increases the compensation for surviving dependents of Alabama National Guardsmen from $10,000 to $100,000. This could increase the obligations of the State General Fund by an undetermined amount dependent upon the number of Alabama National Guardsmen killed while on state active duty status. Additionally, this bill expands educational benefits provided by the Alabama G.I. and Dependent’s Educational Benefit Act to dependents of Alabama National Guard members killed while on state active duty status. This could increase the obligations of the Education Trust Fund by an undetermined amount dependent on the number of claims for benefits by eligible dependents of Alabama National Guard members killed while on state active duty status.
