FISCAL NOTE

Senate Bill 83 as passed the Senate would classify certain members of the United States military, their spouse, and/or their minor children as resident students eligible for in-state tuition rates at Alabama public institutions of higher education. This could decrease in-state tuition fees collected by public institutions of higher education by an undetermined amount dependent upon the number of eligible service members, their spouses, and/or their dependents charged in-state tuition rates.

In addition, this bill will increase the administrative obligations of the Board of Trustees of each public institution of higher education by requiring the adoption of rules and guidelines necessary to implement the provisions of this bill.
