FISCAL NOTE

Senate Bill 169 as introduced and as amended and reported by the Committee on Governmental Affairs will allow the Director of the State Port Authority to appoint and fix the salaries of two additional non-merit system executive level employees who would replace current merit system executive level employees who retire or otherwise leave the employment of the port authority. This could increase the Port Authority's obligations by an unknown amount that would be dependent upon the salaries established for the two non-merit executive level employees and whether they are additional employees or replacement for existing employees, as well as the salaries of the merit system employee being replaced, if applicable. The average salary of the nine executive level employees authorized prior to this bill is approximately $157,000.
