FISCAL NOTE

House Bill 270 as introduced (1) increases the current fine of $50 for subsequent violations of failure to post human trafficking hotline information to $250, (2) designates that these fines are to be deposited into the Attorney General’s Special Revenue Account, and (3) establishes which agencies, boards, and departments are responsible for enforcement of the hotline posting requirements.

This bill would increase the administrative obligations of those agencies, boards, and departments, by an undetermined amount to comply with the provisions of this bill. In addition, this bill could increase receipts to the Attorney General’s Special Revenue Account dependent upon the number of establishments fined for subsequent violations of failure to post human trafficking violations.

In addition this bill could increase receipts to the State General Fund and municipal general funds from fines; increase receipts to the State General Fund, county general funds, municipal general funds, and other funds to which court costs are deposited; and could increase the obligations of the State General Fund, local jails, the district attorneys, the Department of Corrections, and the Bureau of Pardons and Paroles by an undetermined amount dependent upon the number of persons charged with and convicted of the offenses provided by this bill and the penalties imposed.
