FISCAL NOTE

House Bill 209 as introduced would provide for the placement of roadside memorials within a public right-of-way, upon the approval of an application and the payment of an application fee to the Alabama Department of Transportation or the various counties and municipalities. This bill could increase the administrative obligations of the department and the local counties and municipalities, which may be offset by the application fee for the direct and indirect expenses associated with placing and maintaining a memorial. This bill may increase the receipts to the Public Road and Bridge Fund, or to the county and municipality local funds, depending on the amount of the application fee established by the department and the number of applications submitted pursuant to the provisions of this bill.
