FISCAL NOTE

Senate Bill 83 as introduced would classify certain members of the United States military, their spouse, and/or their minor children as resident students eligible for in-state tuition rates at Alabama public institutions of higher education. This would decrease in-state tuition fees collected by public institutions of higher education by an undetermined amount dependent upon the number of eligible service members, their spouses, and/or their dependents that qualify for and take advantage of in-state tuition rates.

In addition, this bill will increase the administrative obligations of the State Board of Education and the Board of Trustees of each public institution of higher education by requiring that rules and guidelines necessary to implement the provisions of this bill are adopted.
