FISCAL NOTE
House Bill 81 as introduced allows hazardous duty time to be used in calculating the requisite years of service for inservice death benefits for firefighter, law enforcement, and correctional officer members of the Employees Retirement System and Teacher Retirement System even if the member has not otherwise attained 25 years of creditable service. According to the actuaries for the Retirement Systems of Alabama (RSA), this bill will not increase the state employer contribution rate but could increase the contribution rates of local government employers by an undetermined amount.
